What is the weather like in Jamaica?

Now let's get down to brass tacks: What do you need in your suitcase when you go to Jamaica? The island has a tropical climate, so it's typically very warm, plus there's high humidity. The pleasantly warm maximum temperatures are over 30 degrees Celsius all year round, while the still pleasant lowest temperatures are around 20 degrees Celsius.

Still, there are some weather peculiarities of the island that you should be aware of. First of all, the rainy season(s): May and June and September to November. By the way, in some regions of the island it rains a lot more than in others. In the mountains of the northeast, for example, there is much more rain than on the south coast.

Jamaica is also located in the hurricane belt. From August to November, a different wind blows in the tropical paradise. So hold on to your hats!

Jamaica: What is the best time to travel?

In winter and spring - roughly between December and April - there is the biggest rush of tourists to the Caribbean island. Accordingly, hotel prices are higher, especially in the tourist center of Montego Bay. During the rainy season and the hurricane season between May and November, the island is less popular due to the sometimes violent storms - but therefore also correspondingly cheaper.

It is about 50 meters high and has a number of natural pools where you can splash around and cool off while enjoying the breathtaking view.

The lagoon in Falmouth is also absolutely worth a visit. The lagoon is a nature reserve, yet there are various ways to explore it, including boat trips, kayak tours or even paddle boarding. Especially recommended is a visit after the sun has set, as the lagoon is known as the "Luminous Lag oon ". The plankton in the water makes it possible. When it moves, it starts to glow and provides you with a unique natural spectacle!

You are more the mountain type? Here, too, the Caribbean island has something to offer you: the Blue Mountains. This mountain range stretches along the east coast of Jamaica and offers you numerous opportunities for hiking and trekking, including the famous Blue Mountain Peak Trail, which leads to the highest peak in Jamaica.

Famous and infamous is especially Rose Hall Great House, a historic estate around which many legends and myths entwine. Apart from the impressive architecture and the beautiful view, the house attracts many visitors especially because of its ghost stories. The most famous legend says that the "white witch of Rose Hall" Annie Palmer haunts the estate to this day.
