SUCCESSFUL SEASON OPENER 23/24
At the double race weekend in Lützelbach and Bensheim in Hesse, the team showed strong performances and collected important UCI points.
In Lützelbach, the weekend started with a bang by the Swiss newcomer to the team, Loris Rouiller. Despite an early crash, he showed an incredible comeback with an impressive catch-up and secured first place. With this he scored the first important UCI points for the Heizomat p/b Kloster Kitchen team. Lars Sommer, who stayed in the leading group for a long time, finished the race in a respectable 7th place after a crash. Furthermore, the reigning German U23 champion Hannes Degenkolb was able to claim 11th place.
In the women's race, reigning German champion Judith Krahl crashed in the first lap while leading. Despite this setback, she still fought her way up to 5th place.
The second race on Sunday in Bensheim again saw strong performances from the Heizomat cycling team. The winner of the previous day, Loris Rouiller, struggled with technical problems at the start, but again proved his fighting spirit and fought his way up from 20th place to the podium in 3rd. Lukas Herrmann and Hannes Degenkolb achieved solid placings with 11th and 14th, as did Lars Sommer, who finished 22nd despite his injuries after his crash the day before.
In the women's race Judith Krahl did well, finishing the day in 6th place. The team management was very pleased with the performance of the entire team on the first race weekend:
"We are proud that our riders were so successful in the first two UCI races and scored important points. The weekend showed that we are ready to compete this season."
