CYCLOCROSS IN THE SNOW
The Heizomat Cyclocross Cycling Team p/b Kloster Kitchen took part in the only cyclocross snow race of the season in Val di Sole last weekend. With six elite riders, including the Swiss Lars Sommer, Loris Rouiller and the Swiss champion Timon Rüegg as well as the German athletes, including the German champion Hannes Degenkolb, Fabian Eder and Lukas Herrmann, it should be an exciting race.
The team, well prepared and highly motivated, took on the challenge of the snow race with a clear goal in mind - to achieve good placings and UCI points.
The two Swiss riders Timon Rüegg and Lars Sommer showed excellent performances and achieved good placings of 8th and 12th place in the very strong international field.
Timon Rüegg, who impressively fought his way back from 20th to 8th place after a crash and rollover in the middle of the race, was particularly impressive. In addition to 12th place in the overall standings, Lars Sommer also secured the title of best U23 rider. Further placings for the team were: Loris Rouiller in 16th place, Hannes Degenkolb in 22nd place (4th U23), Lukas Herrmann in 29th place and Fabian Eder in 30th place.
The race was a unique experience for everyone involved. The demanding route in the wintry conditions not only presented a sporting challenge, but also offered a unique and spectacular atmosphere that fascinated drivers and fans alike.
The team management was extremely satisfied with the performance of its riders. The placings achieved reflect the excellent form of the Heizomat Radteam p/b Kloster Kitchen .
After this successful performance in Italy, the team's focus is now on the coming weeks in the stronghold of cyclocross in the Benelux countries. Shortly before Christmas, the team will take up residence in a specially rented team house in Belgium, from where they will contest the most intensive weeks of competition in the season. Numerous renowned cross competitions and UCI races are on the program around the holidays and the turn of the year. The races in this region are considered particularly challenging and offer the ideal preparation for the national highlight, the German Championships on January 14, 2023 in Radevormwald.
By moving into the team house and preparing intensively in the Benelux countries, the Heizomat Cyclocross Cycling Team p/b Kloster Kitchen is putting the finishing touches to the German Championships, which the team has set its sights on.
